🏆 Super Bowl LVIII – Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers: Chiefs +2 (-115) | (DraftKings)

While the Chiefs are underdogs in this game, we like them to cover here and win outright. With a two-point spread, the points are almost negligible, as few games end with a margin of victory of less than three.

Still, there are some key reasons why we like the Chiefs here.

This postseason, the 49ers have had some rough first halves. They scored just seven points in each first half against the Green Bay Packers and Lions in the Divisional Round and NFC Championship, respectively.

It’s safe to assume they’ll do what they can to prevent that from happening, but this Chiefs defense is not one to be trifled with.

This season, the Chiefs are holding opponents to 16.8 points per game. They held the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round to just seven and the Ravens to ten.

The 49ers must avoid getting into a hole in the first half against the Chiefs. Otherwise, they may have trouble getting back into this one.

Out of the gate, the 49ers will want to control the pace of play, running the ball as much as possible with Chrisitan McCaffrey. The Chiefs allow 113.2 rushing yards per game, which is 17th in the NFL. They held the league-leading Ravens rushing attack to less than 90 yards.

Additionally, the Chiefs play excellent man coverage. While the 49ers have many weapons, the Chiefs have excellent cornerbacks in Trent McDuffie and L’Jarius Sneed.

Of course, defending Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Deebo Samuel is easier said than done, but if any team can do it effectively, it’s the Chiefs.

The 49ers also have an excellent defense, holding teams to 97 rushing yards and 215.6 passing yards per game. Again, though, the Chiefs defense holds teams to about 185 passing yards per game which will be needed as 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy led the league in yards per attempt this season.

Expect this to be a lower-scoring game with slim margins.

For that reason, the Chiefs should either walk about with a win or we’ll get a razor-thin margin of victory.

This is going to be an excellent defensive battle.

Final prediction: 49ers win 24-23. Look for McCaffrey to get it going early enough and the defense to keep either team from going up by two scores or more.
