Local roundup: Winthrop boys basketball outlasts Telstar

BETHEL — Cole Bard delivered a game-high 22 points as the Winthrop boys basketball team defeated Telstar/Gould 64-51 on Thursday.

Brayden Branagan scored 12 of his 16 points from behind the 3-point line for Winthrop (11-7), and Chan Ring scored all 10 of his from inside it. Colton Baird and Carter Rivers added eight points apiece.

Brody Morgan paced Telstar/Gould (6-12) with 18 points, Wyatt Lilly tallied nine and Reiley Hedden and Filip Nesic each notched seven.

 

WINSLOW 45, MOUNT VIEW 43: Braden Rodrigue stole the ball with 26 seconds left and fed Brady Poulin with the game-winning layup as the Black Raiders (12-6) prevailed in Winslow.

Rodrigue and Poulin scored 10 points apiece, while Matthew Quirion pulled down eight rebounds for Winslow.

Noah Hurd scored 14 points for Mount View (13-5), followed by Stuart Knowlton with 10.

 

MARANACOOK 66, MADISON 34: Ten different Maranacook players dented the scoresheet as the Black Bears (15-3) won easily in Madison.

Elijah Freeman scored 14 points for Maranacook, followed by Keagan McClure with 11.

Nathan Cornforth scored 14 points for Madison (9-9).

 

ERSKINE ACADEMY 74, WATERVILLE 34: Keenan Clark scored 16 points as the Eagles (5-13) won in South China.

Wyatt Michaud added 14 points and Tristan Anderson 10 for Erskine.

Derek Couture scored a game-high 19 points for Waterville (3-15).

 

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 61, LISBON 42: Lucas Harmon and Jacob Harmon scored 14 points apiece to pace the Mustangs (15-3) to the MVC victory in Monmouth.

Lucas Harmon also pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double and Jacob Harmon had nine boards of his own. Aiden Oliveira compiled 11 points and eight rebounds and Kyle Palleschi poured in 10 points for Monmouth, which was playing without leading scorer Sammy Calder.

Owen Booker led all scorers with 18 points for Lisbon (1-17), and DeSean Trufant tallied 10.

 

MT. ABRAM 86, HALL-DALE 50: The Roadrunners (16-2) featured five double-digit scorers in their resounding win over the Bulldogs (10-8) to end the regular season in Salem Township.

Payton Mitchell led the way with 20 points, followed by Bryce Wilcox (17), Cam Grey (13), Logan Dube (12) and Killian Pillsbury (10).

Zach Brown scored a team-high 14 points for Hall-Dale and Ben Nathan added 12.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

 

VALLEY 85, PINE TREE ACADEMY 27: Madeline Hill had 21 points and seven steals as the Cavaliers (18-0) completed an unbeaten regular season with a win in Bingham.

Kiersten Bigelow scored 19 points for Valley, while Liana Hartwell had 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Bre Mills pulled down 13 rebounds.

Chantal Bazizane scored 13 points for Pine Tree Academy (8-9).
